Elon Musk stole all our information and it would be great if someone could do something about that. I know Connecticut probably doesn’t have as many federal employees as Virginia, but those of us who are here—paying taxes in this state while we work remotely—would really appreciate some follow-up on President Musk’s crime spree. I work for you—and I’d like to keep doing so. My agency leadership told us today that we’re going to keep serving Congress and the American people, but if things keep going like this, how much longer will there be three branches/checks and balances? Trump and Musk are running roughshod over your power of the purse. Musk is trying to trick executive employees into resigning. Word on the street is that they’re going to use the March funding deadline as an excuse to not pay anyone who was stupid enough to take the bait. Having a tech bro army in OPM, shooting SQL queries into federal employee data—including my direct deposit info, my SSN, my birthdate—doesn’t make me feel confident about my future. Like—OPM has had data breaches before, so I don’t have an expectation that my data isn’t already on the dark web. But this time, the call is coming from inside the house. And my data is going to enrich the richest person in the world, either from the sale of it, or from someone draining my accounts. Or both. I heard Don Beyer went down to USAID to bear witness. I also heard the hacker kids are cosplaying as feds—maybe someone should go to wherever their sofa beds are installed and enforce the Antideficiency Act on them. No sleeping in the office. No working on weekends. If they’re not on the federal payroll in the first place, evict them from the buildings! Last I checked, FPS checks badges at the door, and they don’t generally let you plug unsecured hardware into agency networks. All of this is completely unhinged, and congressional Dems, independents, and Republicans who are realizing they’ve been had…all of you need to mobilize and do something. This is a constitutional crisis. Our country is figuratively on fire…and we’re also not doing so great with literal fire. Anyway. Had to get that off my chest. Good luck and godspeed. We’ll continue holding the line as long as we can.
