The drastic action outlined in your executive order to declare a crime emergency and federalize law enforcement in the District of Columbia is alarming and appears to be an overreach of federal authority. While public safety concerns are valid, stripping local control from DC's democratically-elected government sets a dangerous precedent that undermines home rule and could be abused for political purposes. There must be other solutions that uphold constitutional principles and the rights of DC residents to govern themselves.
