Texas receives $1.85B in awards supporting over 29,000 jobs. Cuts to NIH funding will gut Texas’s standing as a world leader in medical research.
If the research done in the Houston Med Center and other facilities is halted patients in studies will be denied further care as these freezes and cuts are implemented. Studies cannot just be stopped like this - years of work thrown out and the breakthroughs that would be made just… gone.
Please step up for Texas and the nation and stop this destruction of major agencies. “Move fast and break things” might be fine for computer code when the worst thing that will happen is a crash but it is NOT the way to deal with people’s livelihoods and lives. This wanton destruction of our institutions must be stopped.
