I am writing to urge you to demand the immediate resignation of FBI Director Kash Patel and to move forward with impeachment proceedings if he refuses to step down. Patel's conduct as director has compromised the integrity of the FBI and threatens our national security.
Patel has repeatedly misused taxpayer resources by taking personal flights on the FBI's private jet. In December, his visit to South Florida delayed the FBI's elite evidence response team from responding to a mass shooting at Brown University. He was also reportedly seen partying with the U.S. men's hockey team at the Olympics while claiming to be on official business, where he was drinking and laughing at Trump's misogynistic jokes. This is an unacceptable abuse of public resources and demonstrates a fundamental lack of judgment.
Under Patel's leadership, the FBI has been weaponized against political opponents. Even before his appointment, Patel made clear his intention to use FBI power to attack anyone disloyal to Trump. He has scoured FBI records to discredit Democratic representatives and brought charges against or fired federal employees who were involved in investigations of Trump's criminal activity. This partisan manipulation of law enforcement undermines the rule of law and erodes public trust in our institutions.
Patel has also mishandled critical investigations, including the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti by ICE in Minneapolis and the shooting of his close friend Charlie Kirk. Most troubling is his sidelining of the Epstein case files despite bipartisan pressure and House Judiciary Committee oversight hearings, raising serious questions about potential cover-ups involving child sex trafficking.
The FBI must operate independently and professionally to protect all Americans. Patel's incompetence, negligence, and political motivations make him unfit to lead this critical agency. I urge you to take immediate action to demand his resignation or begin impeachment proceedings to remove him from office.
