A growing number of your Republican colleagues are finally beginning to speak up and speak out about the disastrous and rapidly worsening trade policy put in place by the current administration. I urge you to join them quickly and loudly.
The policies currently in place are risky at best. "Playing chicken" with multiple trading partners at the same time is no way to enact lasting and beneficial change. And while this administration waits on the sidelines to see what happens, it is all of us hard-working Americans that are paying the price while the game goes on. And, if/when we lose this game (which history shows is nearly certain), it will be us hard-working Americans, not the administration, that bears the brunt of that loss via a decimated economy.
The best time to act was when this all started going off the rails. The second best time is right now. People are hurting, and based on the president's communicated plans regarding pharmaceuticals and increasingly erratic escalations, they are about to hurt much worse. Step up. Rein in the overreach and chaos. Use the power that you have in congress as a co-equal branch of government. Stop abdicating to the executive branch. That is not what you were elected to do nor swore to do.
