This attack on a clearly marked convoy carrying vital medical supplies and fuel for an Emirati hospital in Rafah is a grave violation of international humanitarian law. It follows another strike on a World Food Programme convoy just hours earlier, prompting the UN to suspend aid operations in Gaza. These incidents demonstrate a blatant disregard for the safety of humanitarian personnel and a willful obstruction of essential aid delivery to a population already suffering tremendously. Such actions exacerbate the humanitarian crisis and jeopardize the lives of countless civilians in Gaza who rely on external aid. They erode the already fragile foundations of human rights and dignity in the occupied territories. An immediate and comprehensive arms embargo on Israel is crucial to prevent further escalation and civilian suffering. Israel's persistent violations of international law and human rights conventions cannot be tolerated or enabled through continued military support and weapons transfers. Decisive action is needed to hold Israel accountable and compel it to abide by its obligations under international law to protect civilians and humanitarian operations.
