governor I have just learned that the President has issued an executive order that will use state and local law enforcement to assist ICE with deportations. Surely you are taking a stand against this, Governor Newsome? Surely you understand that immigrants are vital parts of our economy and community in California. Surely you know that this is merely another attempt to increase Trump’s power and push the US further towards authoritarianism. Surely you know that this will not stop with immigrants to our country. I am a native Californian and love our state for many reasons, including its diversity and its place as a haven for immigrants and queer people. I am the daughter of both. Please remember your constituents are counting on you to protect us from a regime that does not understand or value us. As the US becomes an increasingly frightening place to live, I hope you will stand up for us and for California.
