Reinstate free tax filing, hold Musk accountable for overreach

To: Rep. Knott, Pres. Trump, Sen. Budd, Sen. Tillis

From: A constituent in Raleigh, NC

February 4

Elon Musk's recent actions, such as dissolving the IRS' free file program that allowed millions of Americans to easily file their taxes online, are concerning and detrimental to the public interest. The free file program had strong bipartisan support, with 76% approval from registered voters according to a recent poll. Musk's claim of "deleting" the group overseeing this popular program is an alarming overreach that prioritizes his personal agenda over the needs of the people. As an influential figure granted extraordinary access to government systems, Musk must be held accountable for such unilateral decisions that negatively impact American citizens and undermine democratic processes. His business interests should not take precedence over the public good. It is imperative that steps are taken to reinstate the free file program and prevent further abuse of power by Musk or any individual not bound by proper oversight and governance. The well-being of the populace must be the top priority, not the whims of wealthy individuals lacking accountability. Urgent action is needed to protect the rights and interests of all Americans.
