VOTE NO on the PEPPER Act (H.R. 1789) — No One Is Above the Law
To: Rep. Amodei

April 6
I am writing to demand that you vote NO on the Promptly Ending Political Prosecutions and Executive Retaliation (PEPPER) Act, H.R. 1789.
This bill is nothing less than an open attack on the rule of law. It would dramatically expand executive power by allowing current and former presidents and vice presidents to move state-level prosecutions into federal court, where they could be dismissed—not because the charges are baseless, but because of who the defendant is.
Let’s be clear: this legislation is designed to place presidents above the law. It would shield them from accountability for crimes committed in office or after leaving office. It’s a license to break the law with impunity and a blueprint for authoritarian rule. This bill sends a chilling message to the American people: that if you rise high enough in power, you will never have to answer to the justice system like everyone else. That’s not democracy. That’s dictatorship.
This is about more than politics. It’s about whether we will continue to be a nation governed by laws—or one ruled by individuals who can do whatever they want without consequence.
Vote NO on H.R. 1789. Protect the rule of law. Protect our democracy.
