I am writing to express my deep concern over recent reports that Israel has been deliberately blocking the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza, as outlined by memos from USAID and the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. According to these documents, Israel has obstructed the delivery of food, medicine, and other life-saving supplies to Gaza, and even targeted aid workers. Despite this, Secretary of State Antony Blinken has refused to acknowledge these findings in his testimonies before Congress, which is a violation of both U.S. and international law. As you know, the Foreign Assistance Act mandates that military aid to any nation restricting humanitarian aid be frozen. Yet, despite compelling evidence that Israel has violated this act, our government has failed to take any meaningful steps to enforce the law. In fact, the Biden administration has approved additional military aid to Israel while these atrocities continue. It is imperative that the United States uphold its legal obligations and suspend military aid to Israel immediately. We cannot turn a blind eye to violations of international humanitarian law, especially when U.S. tax dollars are being used to finance these actions. The world is watching, and it is crucial that we stand on the side of human rights and the rule of law. I urge you to take swift action to hold Israel accountable and ensure that U.S. aid is not complicit in the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people. Please support efforts to trigger the Foreign Assistance Act and demand that Secretary Blinken fully enforce U.S. law.
