ICE SHOOTINGS IN MINNEAPOLIS

To: Sen. Banks, Sen. Young

From: A constituent in Indianapolis, IN

January 26

What is happening in Minneapolis is completely unacceptable. ICE is permitted to enforce immigration but should not be used as a political tool of the President to punish a city that disagrees with him or failed to elect him. Those citizens are permitted to peacefully protest ICE’s presence and not be shot to death for exercising their First Amendment Rights. ICE is not trained as law enforcement and has failed to follow those protocols or preserve evidence for investigation. The Constitution’s balance of powers is at stake as are our constitutional rights if you fail to act. The President has not only veered from presidential norms but is creating a constitutional crisis with his attempts to punish blue states and blue cities. I ask you take a stand as an attorney who has pledged to support and defend the constitution under two separate oaths by resisting the President’s overreach.
