The most affluent county in Arkansas is closing its meals on wheels.
Our taxes should pay for things like this. Centralizing funding to feed the poor is efficient.
Instead it pays for vouchers to send families to private schools.
I’m 100% against that.
Jesus said help the poor, not help the wealthy and private schools.
Meals on Wheels of Benton County is ceasing operations after 41 years.
The group used to bring food to about 100 people daily, Jeffcoat said. However, according to Jeffcoat, that number has dwindled in recent years. Individuals that relied on Meals on Wheels of Benton County have been notified and will have to find another way to eat.
Jeffcoat said rising food prices and a lack of volunteers contributed to the decision to close.
“Our younger volunteers are fighting just to keep their jobs, and our older ones can’t afford the gas,” Jeffcoat said.
