I strongly oppose Representative Tepper's proposal to ban diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts in state and local governments as well as public schools. DEI programs play a vital role in promoting fair treatment, equal opportunities, and an inclusive environment for all citizens regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, or background. Institutional racism and discrimination have long been ingrained issues that DEI initiatives help address. Rather than dismantling these crucial programs, we should be strengthening and expanding them to create a more just and equitable society for all Texans. I urge you to reject this misguided legislation and instead work towards enhancing DEI efforts across our state.
