I am a constituent of yours that, like many in Pennsylvania, is an American-Italian dual citizen. I am deeply disturbed that Senator Moreno has introduced a bill that, in violation of established SCOTUS precedent, seeks to strip citizenship from American citizens or compel acts of renunciation if they have multiple nationalities. (Afroyim v. Rusk, 1967; Vance v. Terrazas, 1980) The Supreme Court has been clear about this in the past — Congress has the authority to grant citizenship, but it does not have the authority to strip it from individuals due to protections afforded by the 14th Amendment. As a constituent of yours, born in Pennsylvania and at risk of having their U.S. citizenship illegally stripped, I expect you and your offices to vigorously oppose this bill.
