An Open Letter

August 20
I am so excited to support your presidential campaign, and have already donated multiple times. I think what president Biden did in stepping aside was courageous and selfless, and the transition was done masterfully. I was bracing for catastrophe when he first announced his withdrawal, and I couldn't be more happy to be wrong. I'm writing to urge you to carry forward President Biden's plan for court reform. While I believe we are on a path towards securing the presidency, I am gravely concerned that conservatives will still wield and deploy incredible power in the Supreme Court. I was disappointed to see that court reform was not included in the recently announced DNC party platform. The approval rating for the Supreme Court is at an all-time low and has been holding there as they continue to act as an oligarchy, passing down damaging, wildly unpopular decisions. In addition to the decision overturning Roe v. Wade and the recent presidential immunity decision, both of which I think are preposterous, I believe the decision in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo will turn out to be one of the most damaging decisions in the history of the Court. Overturning Chevron deference will cripple the federal government's ability to do much of anything, but I find this especially worrying as we need to urgently take steps to combat climate change, an already slow and tumultuous challenge. I believe court reform is absolutely necessary, and I believe the time is right. A recent poll even found that 70% of Republicans support President Biden's plan for court reform. Please consider making this an official part of your platform. I have already written my Democratic Senator, Sherrod Brown, to ask him to push for this policy as well. Once again, I am delighted to support your bid for the presidency, and wish you all the best.
