I am writing to raise an urgent and deeply troubling concern regarding the presence of alleged law enforcement officers in unmarked vehicles and wearing face coverings at Dodger Stadium—a matter made even more alarming by conflicting public statements from federal agencies. On June 20th, the Los Angeles Dodgers issued a public statement indicating that “ICE agents came to Dodger Stadium and requested permission to access the parking lots,” which the team denied. Hours later, the official ICE Twitter account directly contradicted this, stating “False. We were never there.” This creates a serious dilemma with only two possible explanations—neither of which is acceptable in a democratic society: 1 Federal agents are operating covertly in public spaces without identification or accountability, in direct contradiction to their own agency’s public statements. 2 Individuals impersonating federal law enforcement—potentially armed and masked—are attempting to access secured spaces near major public venues. Either we have law enforcement impersonators threatening public safety, or we have a federal agency lying to the public and possibly operating without oversight. This is not a partisan issue. This is about the integrity and trust in our institutions. If individuals can show up wearing tactical gear and masks, claim to be law enforcement, and face no verification or accountability—what distinguishes us from authoritarian regimes? I urge you to immediately: • Demand a full investigation into the events at Dodger Stadium. • Propose or support legislation requiring federal and state law enforcement to be clearly marked and identifiable at all times when operating in public spaces. • Clarify whether federal agents are authorized to obscure their identities while conducting operations on civilian grounds in California. We cannot allow masked, unidentified forces—whether real or impostors—to operate with impunity in our communities. We must fix this, because right now, according to ICE: they weren’t there. So, who was?
