I am writing again because Congress has yet to respond meaningfully to the killing of Alex Jeffrey Pretti by federal immigration agents.
Mr. Pretti was a U.S. citizen, a licensed firearm permit holder, and an ICU nurse exercising his First Amendment rights. Federal authorities have offered shifting narratives while withholding complete evidence. That alone demands congressional intervention.
Even more alarming is the suggestion—advanced by DOJ officials and echoed by members of Congress—that lawful firearm possession at a protest somehow justifies lethal force. That position is flatly unconstitutional. The Second Amendment does not vanish at public assemblies, and federal agents do not have discretion to redefine constitutional rights after killing a citizen.
I expect you to act, not equivocate:
Demand the full and immediate release of all video, communications, and operational reports related to Mr. Pretti’s death.
Reject any DOJ claim that lawful firearm possession constitutes grounds for deadly force absent an imminent threat.
Ensure an independent investigation with subpoena power—no federal agency investigating itself.
Exercise oversight authority over ICE and Border Patrol use-of-force policies operating on civilian streets.
If Congress allows federal agencies to kill a citizen and then narrow constitutional rights to justify it, those rights exist only at government convenience.
I expect a written response stating your position and the specific actions you will take.
