Now that the Washington Post has put out polling from Wednesday night showing that more Americans blame Trump and Republicans for this shutdown than democrats by over 17 points, I ask as your constituent that you respect the public’s voice and get your job done.
I also ask that you talk directly to President Trump about how it is viewed that you and he are directly responsible for this government shutdown.
As President Trump loves to say when it benefits him, such as SCOTUS appointments, elections have consequences. Republicans do not have a super majority in the Senate. Hence republicans must negotiate with Democrats to pass appropriations. If you want to act as if you have a super majority, go win it at the ballot box. Until then, negotiate with democrats as you are required.
I appreciate your time and encourage you to reopen the government ASAP, since the public clearly in a 47% to 30% slant, views this as your fault. Thank you.
