Impeach President Trump for Betraying Ukraine and American National Security
To: Rep. Quigley
From: A constituent in Chicago, IL
February 9
I am demanding that you immediately initiate impeachment proceedings against President Trump for his unconscionable betrayal of Ukraine and American national security interests through secret negotiations with Russia that would surrender Ukrainian territory without Ukrainian consent.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has exposed the "Dmitriev package," revealing approximately 12 trillion dollars in proposed economic cooperation between Russia and the United States that includes provisions about Ukraine negotiated behind Ukraine's back. Russia is explicitly demanding that America recognize Crimea as Russian territory. This is not diplomacy. This is capitulation to an authoritarian aggressor that has killed hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians and threatens the entire democratic world.
The United States has invested over 175 billion dollars supporting Ukraine's defense against Russian invasion since 2022. American taxpayers funded weapons, training, and humanitarian aid based on our government's promise to stand with Ukraine against illegal territorial conquest. Now Trump is reportedly negotiating away Ukrainian land without even including Ukraine in the discussions. This is a betrayal of epic proportions that makes a mockery of American credibility and emboldens every dictator watching.
Recognizing Russia's theft of Crimea destroys the foundational principle of the post-World War II order: that borders cannot be changed by military force. If America legitimizes Russia's annexation, we invite China to take Taiwan, embolden Iran's regional aggression, and signal to every authoritarian regime that patience and brutality will eventually be rewarded with international acceptance.
Congress has a constitutional obligation to stop this. You must investigate these negotiations immediately and introduce articles of impeachment if verified. Trump is surrendering an ally's sovereignty, undermining decades of American foreign policy, and destroying our nation's word. This is precisely the type of executive abuse the impeachment power exists to address.
Ukraine is fighting for its survival. America's credibility hangs in the balance. You must act now before irreversible damage is done to both.
