I am writing to urge you to oppose Representative Nancy Mace’s proposed legislation to ban transgender women from using women’s restrooms in the U.S. Capitol. This unnecessary and discriminatory measure undermines fundamental principles of equality and inclusivity, and it sets a dangerous precedent for singling out marginalized communities.
Policies targeting transgender individuals contribute to a climate of exclusion and discrimination, directly harming people who already face significant barriers in society. Forcing trans women to use restrooms inconsistent with their gender identity not only threatens their dignity but also compromises their safety. This type of legislation addresses no real problem and only serves to fuel division and fear.
As your constituent, I expect you to advocate for legislation that upholds the rights of all people, including transgender individuals, and to reject efforts to scapegoat marginalized groups for political gain. I strongly urge you to publicly oppose this bill and any similar measures that threaten the equality and safety of transgender Americans.
Thank you for your leadership on this issue. I trust you will continue to stand for justice and inclusivity.
