This proposed bathroom rule targeting transgender individuals at the U.S. Capitol is unnecessary and discriminatory. It aims to restrict the rights and dignity of an already vulnerable group based on misinformation and prejudice. Rather than fostering division, our elected representatives should be working to address real issues facing all Americans, such as rising costs of living, healthcare affordability, and protecting civil liberties. Excluding and stigmatizing transgender people serves no constructive purpose. I urge you to reject this misguided measure and instead focus efforts on substantive policies that improve lives and bring people together, not drive them apart. Legislating discrimination has no place in a free and just society.
