Investigate Musk's unilateral agency closures and data breaches

To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst, Rep. Feenstra

From: A constituent in Portsmouth, IA

February 5

The actions taken by Elon Musk and his team at the Department of Government Efficiency are highly concerning and appear to violate established laws and procedures governing the federal government. Gaining unauthorized access to sensitive Treasury Department systems containing personal data of millions of Americans is a severe breach of public trust. Unilaterally declaring the closure of agencies like USAID without congressional approval disregards the system of checks and balances fundamental to our democracy. We request that thorough investigations be conducted into these alarming developments. Musk and his associates must be held fully accountable if found to have acted unlawfully or exceeded their authority. No individual, regardless of wealth or political connections, should be allowed to undermine core democratic institutions and processes. Preserving the integrity of government and protecting the rights of citizens must be the top priority. Decisive action is needed to uphold the rule of law and prevent further erosion of longstanding principles.
