I just learned tonight that my state (Texas) has made it impossible for me to change my gender marker on my driver's license and that vital statistics are instructed (perhaps unlawfully) to block gender changes to birth certificates as well. Government officials have quietly been instructed to make a list of people seeking gender marker changes for an unspecified future use. I am frustrated and frightened by the implications of these new policies (which are dubious in regards to Federal law). Out of concern that my vote in the upcoming election be counted, I have postponed pursuing my name and gender marker changes on documentation until after the vote. Now I am at a loss. This is a gutpunch I was unprepared for. The upper officials in Texas do not represent the lgbtq community and present a potent threat to our ability to live in peace. Out of great concern over the repetition of history, I will point out that the Na tzi party went after the trans community first before going after others. That first book burning was a test to see what he could do to a marginalized community. First we're reported and put on lists, then our rights are stripped, then we are separated out and othered, then we go to camps never to be seen again. This is what the right has planned for *all* of the lgbtq (not just the trans community), as well as other marginalized communities. I am writing you to request that you and Vice President Harris put a halt to these growing infringements on the trans community's basic rights, which can only result in a greatly reduced constituency for the Democratic party. They intend to take away our right to vote because we support Democracy. Please intervene before it is too late for us, as well as the US
