I am writing to express my continued deep concern regarding reports of classified and sensitive information being shared through encrypted messaging platforms such as Signal. These apps are not appropriate channels for handling classified materials, which must be secured through authorized and monitored systems. Sharing classified information outside of proper protocols, which exist, regardless of the platform-poses a SERIOUS threat to our national security and places our military personnel, intelligence assets, and strategic operations in harms way. These breaches undermine operational security, erode trust in our institutions, and expose vulnerabilities that adversaries can exploit. I urge you to take immediate steps to:
• Reinforce and enforce existing protocols for handling classified information;
•Support legislation or oversight that ensures federal officials and staff use secure, approved communication methods for sensitive content;
• Increase accountability and education about the consequences of mishandling classified data.
• Urge Sec. Hegseth's resignation or firing for sharing classified information over signal which was improper and more likely illegal when there's a clear process that was not followed
• Hold others on the signal chat who should have known better than to discuss classified information on signal.
Our service members and national defense infrastructure deserve the highest level of protection. Preventing unauthorized disclosures-whether intentional or not-must remain a top priority. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
