On the flimsy “Ratepayer Protection Act”

To: Sen. Schmitt, Sen. Hawley

From: A verified voter in Jefferson City, MO

October 1

The Ratepayer Protection Act directs states to *consider* mirroring federal rules that would make tech companies — instead of consumers — cover data centers’ energy costs. It does NOT require states to adopt any new protections against high energy bills. It does NOT require Big Tech to absorb those costs. Its real-world effects could be negligible. Cut out the nonsense, and give communities REAL protections.
