Protect FCC's independence from corporate meddling by DOGE

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Balderson, Sen. Moreno

From: A constituent in Reynoldsburg, OH

April 5

The current administration's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has overstepped its boundaries by infiltrating critical government agencies like the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). DOGE staffers with concerning ties to private corporations now have access to sensitive data and decision-making processes at the FCC. This raises serious concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the erosion of public trust in independent regulatory bodies. The FCC's oversight of crucial sectors like telecommunications, broadcasting, and satellite operations intersects directly with the business interests of companies like SpaceX, which is headed by Elon Musk, the architect of DOGE. Allowing individuals with clear corporate allegiances to gain internal access to the FCC jeopardizes its ability to act as an impartial regulator and risks regulatory capture that benefits private entities over the public good. This disturbing development threatens the integrity of the FCC's decision-making processes and its ability to safeguard consumer interests and promote fair competition. It is imperative that the administration takes immediate steps to sever DOGE's influence within the FCC and restore the agency's independence and commitment to serving the American people without undue corporate interference. Failing to do so would undermine public faith in the government's ability to regulate critical sectors impartially and prioritize the greater good over narrow special interests.
