Oppose Emil Bove’s Judicial Confirmation
To: Sen. Kelly, Sen. Gallego
From: A verified voter in Phoenix, AZ
July 17
I am writing to urge you to vote no on the confirmation of Emil Bove to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. His record raises serious concerns about his fitness for a lifetime judicial appointment.
Mr. Bove has been implicated in multiple controversies during his tenure at the Department of Justice. He allegedly encouraged DOJ attorneys to consider defying court orders regarding deportations under the Alien Enemies Act, reportedly saying the department should tell the courts “f— you.” Such blatant disregard for judicial authority is disqualifying.
He also played a central role in the dismissal of prosecutors handling January 6 cases and pressured colleagues to drop corruption charges against New York Mayor Eric Adams, prompting mass resignations. These actions suggest a pattern of politicized decision-making and abuse of power.
More than 900 former DOJ employees and 76 retired judges have publicly opposed his nomination, citing his egregious record of mistreating law enforcement officers, abusing power, and disregarding the law. His prior role as President Trump’s defense attorney further raises concerns about impartiality and loyalty to constitutional principles.
Confirming Emil Bove would undermine public trust in our judiciary. I urge you to stand for integrity and judicial independence by voting against his confirmation.
