THIS IS THE GOP’S SHUTDOWN

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Pfluger

From: A verified voter in Mason, TX

October 1, 2025

From the President of the United States on Truth Social: “[Democrats] are threatening to shut down the Government of the United States unless they can have over $1 Trillion Dollars in new spending to continue free healthcare for Illegal Aliens (A monumental cost!), force Taxpayers to fund Transgender surgery for minors [...] allow men to play in women’s sports, and essentially create Transgender operations for everybody.” This is an administration worth keeping open? Republicans brought this government shutdown down upon themselves. The ‘my way or the highway’ method of Trump negotiation is simplistic when trying to run an entire country. He’s out of his depth, and is no deal-maker where bullying does not work. Trump made zero effort to keep the government open. The latest Navigator poll shows that by a 49 to 34% margin voters in battleground states say “Congress should let the government shut down to hold the line against funding cuts for healthcare programs and keeping tariffs in place,” rather than “keep the government open, even if it means funding cuts for healthcare programs and keeping tariffs in place.” Meanwhile, a Morning Consult polls shows “45% of voters say they’d blame Republicans in Congress for a government shutdown, while only 32% say they’d blame Democrats in Congress.” The GOP holds all three levers of government. If your policies are so popular with we the people, why do you continue to have so much difficulty getting things passed? Because your policies are not popular, that’s why. And best synopsis of the cringy amateurish stage production at Quantico on Tuesday where America and our military leaders were humiliated by a former Fox talking head…The meeting was “a waste of time for a lot of people who emphatically had better things they could and should be doing. It’s also an inexcusable strategic risk to concentrate so many leaders in the operational chain of command in the same publicly known time and place, to convey an inane message of little merit.” This level of incompetence should never have been allowed. Lastly, Speaker Johnson, who sent his members out of town rather than stick around for a vote and risk swearing in the new Democratic representative…who would be 218th vote for a discharge petition to release the Epstein files, did your party no good with continuing the appearance of covering for sexual predators. Your leadership is having a great week. You might want to reevaluate the plan for the next three years. That is if you can get the government reopened.
