An Open Letter

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Veasey

From: A verified voter in Fort Worth, TX

July 28

I am writing to urge you to support a formal inquiry into Senator Mitch McConnell’s prolonged absence from the Senate and whether the American public has received adequate information regarding his ability to perform the duties of his office. This is not a partisan issue. Americans deserve transparency when an elected official is unable to serve for an extended period. While medical privacy is important, it must be balanced with the public’s right to know whether its elected representatives are capable of fulfilling their constitutional responsibilities. I ask that you support an inquiry into whether current Senate policies are adequate and, if not, work toward bipartisan reforms that establish clear disclosure standards for all members of Congress facing prolonged incapacity. The public deserves accountability and consistent standards that apply equally to every elected official. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
