Dear Governor Newsom, I am writing to urge your strong support for SB 418, a bill that will strengthen protections against discrimination in any health program or activity receiving government funding, ensuring equal access to care for all Californians, especially our transgender Californians. This bill is desperately needed as it also requires insurance plans and pharmacists to dispense up to a 12-month supply when medically necessary and to cover a 12-month refill of hormone therapy obtained at one time. This will help safeguard continuity of care for transgender individuals and other vulnerable communities. California has long been a refuge for those seeking essential healthcare services.
