I am tired of the administration saying nonsense which gets covered too much by media to distract from what matters. First, the tariffs. They are wholly unnecessary, caused suspicious market manipulations, and will not help lower the trade deficit. They instead are an extra tax on people like me who purchase regular goods that are imported into our country. All this economic uncertainty caused Moody’s to downgrade us Second, the proposed cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, education, energy credits, national parks are appalling and show a distinct lack of care for human beings. And they are all for tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations that don’t need them. They should be taxed according at the rate they earn, like me. Third, the IRS cuts are going to cost us about $700 billion lost in tax evasion because that department was decimated. Fourth, our farmers are losing money and food is going to waste because of the USAID cuts and due to the new deals made that bypassed food we normally exported, like beef and soybeans. Fifth, the FAA cuts are causing dangerous losses of contact situations and causing it to be unsafe to fly. We know of Denver and Newark already. How many more airports will follow? Sixth, the Secretary of HHS has no idea what is being cut or done as evidenced by his hearings. Example, the National Firefighter Cancer Registry being shut and reinstated after he was questioned about it. There are many more examples. Seventh, the Secretary of DHS is refusing to answer questions or willfully providing evasive answers during her hearings, and now wants to implement a TV show where immigrants compete for citizenship?! How is this tenable as someone who took an oath to serve the people and democracy. Eighth, we are getting close to hurricane season, yet the cuts to NOAA and FEMA and rushed decisions to move some federal processes to states have no one prepared at all, which is dangerous and could have all been avoided. Do you remember the damage from the last storm season in our state? I do, it hit my home. Ninth, DOGE did not help find trillions of waste, fraud and abuse. This is evident as they keep having to adjust by lowering their total savings on the website. It ended up costing us money and efficiency from all the staffing cuts. Worse, it gave Elon Musk access to millions of peoples’ data, my data, which legally he never should have been privy to. All of the shuttered programs and services, including the proposed cuts with the budget, are going to cause real harm, people will get sicker, they could lose their homes, they could die. All of this adds up to people who are human beings being looked at as numbers: numbers to be cut, numbers that don’t count, and numbers that are expendable, instead of us as the many and different faces of our nation that form our foundation; a beautiful tapestry that weaves together to become the United States of America.
