I’m deeply disappointed in your statements about trans people

As a California resident in the Bay Area, I am deeply disappointed in you throwing trans people under the bus for your career. I remember when you boldly legalized marriage equality as mayor. I know enough people in San Francisco to have heard your stellar reputation as someone who gets things done, who is community minded. Your recent statements on trans people on your podcast betray all of that. You platformed a fascist, let him call trans woman athletes “men in women’s sports” without blinking an eye. And then said incredibly ignorant things about trans athletes. Things not backed by science or what is actually happening in sports. The first act of the Nazi party was to attack trans people and burn research and books about gender. History is repeating itself and you’re being a coward. This is not the time for cowardice! Trans people need the rest of us to stand up for them right now. We don’t need weak leaders right now more concerned with their political careers than the people depending on them. You need to apologize and you need to invite trans people on your podcast to explain to you and your audience what you got wrong about trans people and trans athletes (most of which are children). One suggestion for a guest would be Honey Mahogany, the director of the San Francisco Office of Transgender Initiatives. Do better!
