Dear Senator Padilla, I am writing to urge you in the strongest possible terms to vote against President Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.” This dangerous legislation is a reckless assault on our economy, our most vulnerable citizens, and the constitutional balance of power. The massive tax cuts proposed in the bill are not only fiscally irresponsible, they are a direct path to ballooning the national debt—placing an unsustainable burden on future generations just to line the pockets of the wealthy and corporations. Equally alarming are the proposed cuts to essential safety net programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP. Slashing these lifelines would leave millions of Americans—seniors, low-income families, children, and people with disabilities—without the support they need to survive. These programs are not excess spending; they are moral obligations. Gutting them in favor of corporate giveaways is unconscionable and must be stopped. Perhaps most outrageous is the bill’s unconstitutional provision targeting the independence of our courts. Undermining the judiciary is a blatant power grab that threatens the very foundation of our democracy. This provision alone should be grounds for outright rejection of the bill. I demand that you stand on the side of the Constitution, of fiscal responsibility, and of human dignity—vote AGAINST this bill. Our future and democracy is literally at stake here.
