Investigate Trump's Taxpayer-Funded Corruption Now

To: Sen. Murray, Sen. Cantwell, Rep. DelBene

August 12

Support the Anti-Corruption Bureau legislation introduced by Senators Schumer and Padilla, and commit to investigating Trump's self-dealing before it becomes permanently normalized. The scale of what's happening here is staggering, and silence is complicity. Taxpayers are already on the hook for nearly $1.8 billion in Trump vanity projects, including up to $800 million for his White House ballroom. The same corporations funding that ballroom — Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, Google, Lockheed Martin — have since collected $50 billion in federal contracts, according to Sen. Chris Murphy. That's not coincidence. The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump personally wants to know how much a company donated before deciding how to treat them. Meanwhile, Trump and his family have pocketed an estimated $2.25 billion to nearly $10 billion during his second term, including $600 million from foreign interests and a $187 million crypto deal with a UAE government official. Trump told the New York Times he keeps doing this because "nobody cared." Prove him wrong. Co-sponsor the Anti-Corruption Bureau legislation, use every oversight tool available, and make clear that public office is not a family business. Every day this goes unchallenged, the precedent gets harder to reverse.
