I see we don’t have those ACA tax credits yet. So while the health of your constituents is on your mind I want you to see that President Trump wants to restrict vaccinations for children in the U.S. President Trump actually doesn’t want us vaccinating children against so many diseases. He thinks that he can compare the vaccination schedules of other industrialized nations to the United States. Of course, if the diseases are present and the children are not vaccinated and exposed they will get sick and many will die. It is a false comparison. All of those nations have universal healthcare. Everyone there has preventive care and treatment if they are ill. No one is turned away. Here we have tens of millions who cannot afford to go to the doctor until it is too late. They make for a sicker overall population. Those countries allow new parents to stay at home for months on paid leave. That keeps the kiddos in a safe illness free environment longer. And when they do go out the overall population is healthier and so they are exposed to fewer illnesses. There can be a happy ending to this story. The answer is to have an infrastructure in this country that supports health, not what we have, one that supports wealth at the expense of health. I want you to support Medicare for All of Us (HR 3069) so we can all be healthier at lower cost. Then I want you to make sure that we have a real paid family leave program in this country - think six months. Then make sure that all children have access to quality early learning. I know you care about families, now vote like you do.
