President Trump's characterization of Iran allowing oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz as a "present" and evidence we're "dealing with the right people" is reckless diplomacy that undermines our national security. I need you to publicly condemn this statement and demand accountability for this dangerous misreading of Iranian intentions.
Iran is not sending gifts. They're controlling a critical waterway that handles a third of global seaborne oil trade, and the President is treating their temporary restraint as a friendly gesture. Meanwhile, Iranian military officials are openly mocking U.S. ceasefire efforts and declaring there will be no negotiations over the 15-point plan. This is not the behavior of partners.
Even more alarming is Defense Secretary Hegseth praying for violence "against those who deserve no mercy" at a Pentagon worship service during an active conflict with Iran. This rhetoric escalates tensions when we need measured leadership.
The President's comments signal weakness disguised as optimism. They embolden adversaries who see us celebrating basic non-aggression as diplomatic progress. Congress must reassert oversight of Iran policy before this administration mistakes manipulation for cooperation.
