An Open Letter

To: Rep. Kennedy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Holladay, UT

December 18

The United States is the only developed nation in the world that has not established a universal healthcare system, and by letting the ACA subsidies expire you are condemning the majority of our citizens to suffer and die without care due to cost. Our medical costs are already the most expensive in the world, and the subsidies for health insurance are the only thing that makes it possible for most of us to treat our serious ailments. People who have worked their entire lives, built retirement funds, and have continuously carried insurance are still being bankrupted by medical costs for serious ailments. If you don't renew the subsidies, instead of being bankrupted many people will instead just die of their illnesses as they won't be able to afford insurance premiums. I call on Congress to renew the ACA subsidies to keep insurance affordable for the citizens of our nation.
