Congress must investigate Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's false statements about the March 1 attack in Kuwait that killed six soldiers and wounded 20 others. Survivors directly contradict his official account, and the Pentagon has not denied their version of events.
Hegseth claimed a drone "squirter" penetrated defense systems. Injured soldiers say that's a lie. One stated: "Painting a picture that 'one squeaked through' is a falsehood. I want people to know the unit was unprepared to provide any defense for itself. It was not a fortified position." Soldiers received an all-clear alert just 30 minutes before the attack. They were stationed at an older-style base with no protection from aerial attacks, in what one described as "a deeply unsafe area that was a known target."
When the Pentagon responded, they didn't deny the soldiers' account. Instead, Assistant Secretary Sean Parnell claimed "every possible measure has been taken" and touted 6-foot walls as adequate fortification. Six Americans are dead because of inadequate force protection, and the Defense Secretary lied about it.
Launch a full investigation into Hegseth's statements and the failures that led to this attack.
