I’m troubled by Mamdani new desire to confiscate private property in particular the potential for COPA to pass. COPA attacks some of the basic core principals of our country: Protection of private property rights. Mamdani wants the govt to tell people who they can sell to. In affect give him a stake in something the govt does not own. This law is evil and it’s been tried before in Frisco and DC. It didn’t have the desired impact. Please pass a law that makes it clear NYS respect private property rights. Cause if you allow this in NYC, this “reimagining” of our relationship to private property, what’s to prevent this nonsense spreading if our state get infested with more Democratic Socialists. Stop this now. Protect private property rights. No matter what well intentioned activist believe: Housing is not a right. We have a right to purchase or rent. Not to another person’s property. That garbage is communism.
