Protect against DNA collection - Vote NO on SB 116

To: Sen. Dickerson

From: A constituent in Alpharetta, GA

February 18

This bill introduces a number of troubling precedents around privacy and racial profiling. An ICE detainer does not prove immigration status or lack of of it, and collection of DNA solely under charge of a crime violates due process. DNA profiles contain sensitive, private information, and once collected, becomes accessible to any local, state, or federal law agency. The bill does not outline any avenues to remove DNA profiles from these databases in cases of wrongful or dismissed charges. Collection and processing of this DNA will be paid for by your tax dollars and will only increase the backlog for existing cases. We want bills that help communities more than harm them. So I call on you, to vote NO
