The federal government appears to be increasingly captured by wealthy private interests, subverting democratic principles. Giving unelected billionaires like Elon Musk direct control over crucial government systems represents a concerning form of state capture that puts private gain ahead of the public good. This concentration of power in the hands of the ultra-wealthy undermines accountability and threatens to direct policy and public funds for their own benefit rather than that of all citizens. We cannot allow our government to be so heavily influenced by a small number of powerful individuals. Reclaiming democratic control and opposing this corrupting dynamic is imperative to uphold the will of the people. The troubling interventions into every level of government demand a course correction to rededicate our institutions to serving the broader public interest over narrow private agendas.
