Please Correct Trump’s False Claims About Mail-In Voting

To: Rep. Nunn, Sen. Ernst, Sen. Grassley

From: A verified voter in Des Moines, IA

February 14

I’m writing as your constituent to urge you to publicly correct President Trump’s repeated false claim that America is “the only country in the world that has mail-in ballots.” He made this statement again on February 12, 2026. This is demonstrably untrue. According to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, 34 countries allow mail-in voting, including Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, and Switzerland. Oregon has successfully conducted all-mail elections since 1998, with bipartisan voter support at 81% (including 76% of Republicans). Over three decades, they’ve mailed millions of ballots with only about a dozen fraud cases. Their Republican Secretary of State in 2019 said: “After 20 years, we’ve proven that our system is very secure and voters love it.” Trump also falsely claims other countries “gave it up because of MASSIVE VOTER FRAUD.” There’s no evidence for this. When the President lies about our electoral system, he undermines democracy itself. I urge you to: 1. Issue a public statement correcting these false claims 2. Educate constituents about the facts of mail-in voting 3. Oppose federal interference with states’ constitutional right to run elections 4. Support legislation protecting secure mail-in voting access The American people deserve the truth. Will you stand up for it?
