The biggest piece of unfinished business left over from before the summer recess? You still need to pass final data privacy legislation. Thanks to tireless advocacy from ACLU, volunteer orgs, and coalitions, data privacy was top of mind for lawmakers earlier this session. This issue advanced quickly at the State House, gaining unanimous, bipartisan support in the House of Representatives and in the State Senate. However, a final data privacy bill still needs to be hammered out and sent to the governor so she can sign it into law. Our lawmakers must pass the Massachusetts data privacy law and ban the sale of our most sensitive data! Surveillance affects people in Marginalized populations way more than the white, rich, and powerful. It perpetuates DHS / ICE's evil assault on the people of Massachusetts! Sensitive information about our location, our health, and our kids should stay private. Without an enforceable data privacy law, it never will be. We will be making noise about data privacy until lawmakers stop Big Tech from collecting and profiting off our most private information. We demand data privacy protections for Massachusetts!
