I'm calling on you to oppose any military escalation with Iran and demand congressional authorization before any further action is taken. The current trajectory toward conflict lacks both legal authority and strategic sense.
Iran's recent statement mocking U.S. ceasefire negotiations as "only negotiating with themselves" shows how badly this approach has failed. We're burning credibility and resources on a policy that isn't working. Meanwhile, Congress has not authorized this military posturing, which violates the Constitution's clear requirement that only Congress can declare war.
This isn't about defending Iran's government. It's about preventing another catastrophic Middle East war that will cost American lives and trillions of dollars we don't have. I lived through Iraq and Afghanistan. We were promised quick victories and got decades of bloodshed instead.
Vote against any funding for offensive military operations against Iran unless Congress formally debates and authorizes war. The American people deserve a say before we stumble into another conflict.
