As a constituent from Norman, Oklahoma, I am writing to strongly urge you to oppose two specific spending proposals currently being debated in Congress: the $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization" fund and the $1 billion security funding request tied to the White House ballroom project.
It is my understanding that the administration is attempting to attach these provisions to the upcoming $72 billion immigration enforcement funding package. Taxpayer dollars should be utilized responsibly to address the cost of living and the genuine, pressing needs of the American people, not diverted toward a highly politicized settlement slush fund or executive vanity projects like the East Wing ballroom modernization.
I applaud the recent pushback from lawmakers who recognize that these are inappropriate uses of federal funds. I am asking you to stand firm and commit to voting against any budget reconciliation or funding package that includes these two provisions. Elections have consequences, and constituents like myself are paying close attention to how our representatives vote to protect our tax dollars.
Thank you for your time, your service to Oklahoma, and for considering my views on this important matter.
