I am your constituent, and I am writing because we are no longer facing a hypothetical threat to democracy. We are living through it.
The federal government is increasingly operating in ways that are anti-constitutional, authoritarian, and hostile to the people. Civil liberties are being eroded, dissent is being criminalized, law enforcement is being weaponized, and disinformation is being normalized. History shows this is exactly how fascism takes hold—incrementally, while elected officials hesitate.
I am demanding that you act.
Your oath is to the Constitution, not to a party or a president. That oath requires active opposition to unconstitutional agendas, state violence against civilians, attacks on peaceful protest, and any attempt to undermine free and fair elections.
Words and symbolic statements are no longer enough. I expect:
• Public, unequivocal opposition to authoritarian policies
• Protection of the right to protest and dissent
• Oversight and accountability for federal agencies abusing power
• Concrete legislative action to defend civil rights and checks and balances
Silence and inaction are forms of complicity. History will not excuse those who “knew something was wrong” but failed to act.
We are watching. We are organizing. And we expect leadership now.
