Advance the Discharge Petition - Force a Vote on the Afghanistan TPS Act

To: Sen. Schiff, Rep. Liccardo, Sen. Padilla

From: A verified voter in Saratoga, CA

October 28

I’m writing in support of the long-delayed discharge petition to force a floor vote on the Afghanistan TPS Act of 2026. More than 8,000 Afghan refugees nationally are at risk of deportation because the Trump administration ended their Temporary Protected Status in 2025. These are people who served as interpreters, informants, and support staff alongside U.S. troops, and we promised them protection in exchange for risking their lives. The bill already has Republican co-sponsors, including Reps. Don Bacon and Maria Salazar, and a similar discharge petition for Haitian TPS reached the 218-signature threshold with four Republican crossovers. The path exists. It just needs members willing to be on the record. This is not a partisan ask. America made a promise to Afghans who risked their lives alongside our military. Letting that promise die in committee because House leadership won't schedule a vote is a betrayal. Sign the petition and let the full House decide.
