Protect the Constitutional right to protest - Trump cannot use force against us!

To: Sen. Tillis, Rep. Foushee, Sen. Budd, Pres. Trump

From: A verified voter in Holly Springs, NC

June 10

I’m writing as your constituent to express deep concern over recent comments made by President Trump, as reported in NBC News on June 6, 2025. In the article, he warns that protesters at his spectacle of a dictator-style military parade “will be met with strength like never before,” suggesting the use of “great force” against dissenters (NBC News article (https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/white-house/trump-warns-military-parade-protesters-will-face-heavy-force-rcna212136)). Such statements are alarming and fundamentally at odds with the U.S. Constitution. The First Amendment protects the right to peacefully assemble and express dissent—no matter if it challenges the sitting President or not. Threats of violence or repression against protesters are unacceptable in a democratic society. These are the words of a President who is completely unhinged and unstable, forgetting his oath of office and his duty to uphold the Constitution. I urge you to speak out clearly in defense of our constitutional rights and to take whatever actions are within your power to ensure that peaceful protest remains protected, without fear of retaliation or force. Trump must be reminded that he is not a king, nor is he a dictator.
