The unabating torrent of human suffering that we witness nearly every day, a result of unconscionable acts of violence, is a harrowing reminder of the inhumanity that man is capable of, particularly in the case of Israel's actions against Palestinian civilians. There is a wildfire of grief, suffering, and terror spreading across the globe which, in all honesty, cannot be quelled without genuine, united action. As nations which boast democratic values and uphold human rights, it is shockingly paradoxical that we are directly or indirectly allowing these crimes against humanity to perpetuate.
The disturbing reports surfacing daily from the Israel-Palestine conflict, a fiasco of unimaginable proportions, lays bare the heart-wrenching reality of Palestinian children, women, and men living in perpetual violence and fear. It's unbearable to fathom that our tax dollars, sent from pockets of hardworking individuals are funding these horrendous delays in peace and exacerbating the conflict. As people who believe in social justice and the sanctity of human life, we must question how our resources are being utilised and demand an immediate halt to any support that aids in the ongoing atrocities.
Inaction at this stage equates to complicity. We can no longer stand silently on the sidelines, watching as innocent civilians lose their lives or exist in a constant state of terror. I beseech you, consider the humanity that binds us all. It's imperative the U.S. stops sending arms that fuel this conflict, and instead focus on playing a constructive role in the peace processes. Let us champion diplomacy in place of devastation, dialogue in place of discord. We must find a sustainable, unbiased solution that recognises the right of both Palestinians and Israelis to live in safety and freedom. Remember, the whole world is watching.
