ICE must be held accountable

To: Sen. Cornyn, Sen. Cruz, Rep. Van Duyne

From: A constituent in Dallas, TX

June 20

I am concerned about the increasingly-dangerous scenarios of heavily-armed, masked men with no agency identification abducting people off the street without any arrest warrants. In the past weeks, politicians have been shot by men posing as law enforcement. Businesses and individuals have been robbed by masked men posing as ICE officers. Bogus ICE shirts, caps, and vests are readily available online. This is a growing recipe for an escalation in lawlessness and violence. As a responsible gun owner, I am also shocked at the number of videos showing alleged-ICE officers pointing pistols at peaceful bystanders. These are not law enforcement officers with any sort of firearms training. It is imperative for the public to be able to identify true ICE officers, and to know the difference from false officers. It is imperative for ICE officers to be accountable for their actions. It is imperative for there to be more oversight and transparency on their activities. Without additional oversight, ICE becomes a secret police force accountable to no one. My wife and I strongly urge you to use your powers as a member of Congress to do whatever is necessary resolve this dangerous situation. Demand ICE officers wear identification. Demand they remove their face masks when apprehending people.
